THE LOCKDOWN ROOM
The Lockdown Room was born back in March when the UK went into Lockdown & The Espresso Room site within the English National Ballet was forced to close. Amongst all the panic & uncertainty, their team were determined to continue their newly launched ‘COVID friendly’ contactless grocery delivery service to the residents of LCI. After a few frantic phone calls to the developers, EcoWorld Ballymore saved the day & gave them the keys to an empty retail unit on Hopewell Square… and so The Lockdown Room was born!
Although very much still a ‘pop-up’ vibe, the site is now a firm favourite at London City Island and has become a well-known meeting place for locals & visitors alike. Whether that be for a morning coffee, a chilled lunch break in the sun or to enjoy some music.
Why not drop by over the Unity Arts Festival weekend and see what all the fuss is about? Be sure to sample their brand new Vietnamese street food menu, a local craft beer & enjoy the positive vibes on the island!

CARTOGRAFIE
Our story begins with a joint purpose: two families drawn together by our shared passion for beautiful ingredients, design and experiences. We pair this passion with our desire to change the chocolate industry for good. One bite at a time.
As such, day in the life at Cartografie is a delectable one. Our filled chocolates are celebratory expressions of particular regions, couvertures and cocoa bean varieties. Origin shapes originality. So that these nuances shine, preparation and process are meticulous matters. Kae Shibata constantly tastes and tests each couverture to ensure it ages with a full flavour profile. When it’s at peak perfection, it’s time to create our ganaches and fillings. Her devotion to her craft from ageing the chocolate, to tempering, filling, hand-shaping, dipping and packaging each piece is a labour (and flavour) of love.
